Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on base or you can live off base. If you live off base, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Naval Base Coronado includes seven different military installations including Naval Air Station North Island, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Naval Auxiliary Landing Field San Clemente Island, Outlying Field Imperial Beach, Silver Strand Training Complex, Camp Michael Monsoor, and the Remote Training Site, Warner Springs. Naval Base Coronado is located west of San Diego, California and is the largest command in the southwest region of the United States. Military personnel must apply for housing through the Assignment/Referral Office located at Naval Base San Diego. The NRSW Family Housing Welcome Center at Naval Base San Diego assigns military housing and keeps a list of community housing for those looking to live off post including those assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Marine Corps Recruit Depot. There are over 9,000 government homes located in the San Diego area. Waiting lists can be as little as a month up to 24 months. Lincoln BP Management has joined with San Diego to provide properties for military that are within their BAH rates. Single service members are also provided housing in on-post barracks and some privatized housing. For more specific information on available properties, call #619-556-8443.
There are no temporary lodging facilities on the naval station, but reservations can be made at the Navy Lodge or the Four Navy Gateway Inns and Suites. Pets are not allowed in any of the inns. Reservations can be made for the Navy Lodge by calling 1-800-NaVY-INN or by calling the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites at 1-877-Navy-Bed. Children living on base attend the San Diego Unified School District which is the eighth largest urban school district in the county. There are no Department of Defense schools in the San Diego area. Students will attend the school nearest where they reside unless the school is overcrowded. Magnet school sand private schools are also offered as well as special needs education. The Child Development Centers in San Diego are coordinated by the Regional Childcare Resource and Referral Office for all six bases under Naval Base Coronado. In-home child care is offered through the Child Development Home Program to full-time, part-time and hourly daycare.
